Having a design phase

I have been designing this large pencil case/ coloring book came for a friend. Sometimes you know that you will only make one of a chain design, but this one I love .... Might just make some more and keep this one for myself. It fits my design book, pencils, rulers and even my IPad. The front pocket fits my erasers, sharpeners and my good lead pencils.

Love this white and pink giraffe premier print fabric, I lined the, with pink gingham. The larger one has a wrist strap and an internal pocket 

Work in progress. Negative space quilt

I have been playing around for a while on the idea for a negative space modern quilt. So I got out my trusty design book ( lots of blank pages) and colored pencils ( all still sharp) and drew a large grid and started to play around. After having lots of fun and using the eraser LOTS!!! I then cuts huge a,punts of fabric. Made some half square triangles and for the first time made some flying ducks... Nope that's wrong... Flying geese. 

Here is the front ... Only slightly like the design I drew, and much much bigger than I started out with. As I put it together it just seemed to need more.

After agonizing over the front, I decided to just use the Navy for the backing. Well of course the fabric I had was not big enough so I got back to the machine and made more geese... Hahah the flying kind. Here is the back, oh and yes it's Pete holding it up. It was too big for me. I will soon "quilt" it and post the finished product

I know lots of names for these quilts, they have so many uses, and I can see any child's still dragging it around for years. Love a quilt when it's quiet time.

I have just added 2 cute cross body bags today and will add another couple tomorrow ... Here is a sneak peak...

Pete and are are winging our way to fabulous Hawaii in 2 weeks time, for 3 weeks of rest and relaxation.

Bernina. V Janome

I have a new sewing machine.... YAY... I have been using Bernina for the last 2.5 yrs and have just traded it in for my new Janome 8200 and I LOVE it. It has a huge 11 inch throat... And sews like a dream.

I have been looking for a fabulous Backpack for when we travel. The ones I loved on Etsy were expensive and made overseas. I then found this unique pattern by Colette Patterns, the pattern is called Cooper and comes in 3 different versions. The pattern recommends using waxed canvas/cotton as well as Duck Cloth, or canvas. I had a pigskin hide, so along with some Navy Duck I made version2 , the backpack. It's the perfect size and can't wait to take it to Hawaii in December.

Loved this fabric, I first made a large carryall with it and decided I hated it ..hahaha.. so I deconstructed it made these two smaller ones and loved them. Sometimes it turns out that some prints are perfect for a smaller bag... who knew... well I do now.
The satchel type has lots of pockets 2 external and 3 slip pockets inside it has a substantial flap with a magnetic snap to close. This one is a made to order and I have done quite a few in the style now...and they are quite popular, so I might make up a few more for the market... $35

The other one with a rounded bottom , has darts sewn into the seam with gives it a bit of body, I tried it with the flower.. umm not so sure.. so I took it off, this cute bag is just big enough to store your phone, a small purse and some girl essential, it does not have any pockets and will sell for $25 plus P&H
